There are 3 types of standard letter/email templates available:

1. Microsoft Word (MHT/Single File Webpage)
2. HTML Template
3. Simple Email Template

In this tutorial, you'll learn about the difference between the three types of standard letter templates above, and how to access them all in Gnomen.

Recap:

Word MHT templates
PROS:
- Exports and opens in Microsoft Word.
- Best used for print, that has multiple pages.
- Can be saved as a PDF (once opened in Word)
- Good design control if you are familiar with MS Word
- Add your own company logo, header and footer

CONS:
Not good for email unless you attach as a file
Cannot be used to print bulk letters, one at a time only

Microsoft Word 2003 (PC) or 2007 (Mac) required.

HTML templates
PROS:
- Prints via the browser
- Email friendly
- Exports as Word
- Best suited for letters that need to be emailed
- Bulk email or print (canvassing)
- MS Word is not required

CONS:
HTML knowledge may be required to get perfect results on complex documents
Not good for multiple pages, unless you are an expert in HTML
Header and footer is not positioned as perfectly as MS Word, unless you are a HTML expert

Simple email
PROS:
- Use for standard email signatures
- Simple canned responses/templates
- One template is available in ALL three modules - Landlords/Vendors, Tenants and Applicants
- Quick access via email button

CONS:
Limited Smart Tags are available
As with HTML templates, expert knowledge may be required for complex designs

We recommend studying the application of each template, and seeing which type of document suits which application. You may decide to use all three types depending on the scenario and your requirements.
